- I am a very small USDA breeder and researcher of primates in Deerfield Beach, Florida. Unique to our facility is a comprehensive health program to ensure you get the healthiest monkeys in the country.
All of our monkeys are weighed on a bi-weekly basis to make sure they are in good health, with blood glucose readings performed once every two months to ensure none have diabetes (this can lead to birth defects, low birth weight, complications during birth and eventual health problems for your new baby). To my knowledge I am the only breeder in the country who does this type of preventable health care.
Our monkeys are fed a very high-end diet consisting of meat proteins (chicken, mealworms, pork, eggs), vegetables (broccoli, asparagus, green beans, sweet potatoes), fruit (papaya, pears, apples, pineapple, guava), arabic gum and our own specially-formulated Marmoset Diet free of grains, gluten and added sugars. Our diet is built to prevent inflammation (a leading cause of disease in marmosets) and diabetes in marmosets, while providing all the daily nutrition they need to be happy, healthy monkeys.
All of our cages are 25% larger than regulation size, with built-in drain basis in the floor to keep our facility one of (if not) the cleanest in the country. Our cages are located inside outdoor structures that shelter the monkeys from rain, block sun during the hottest parts of the day, and allow morning and evening basking. The facility has power and heat mats/lamps in each cage to make sure the monkeys are comfortable year round.
We also have a "vet" laboratory on-hand that we are expanding each year, to continue our research otni prevention and treatment of various diseases such as marmoset wasting syndrome, metabolic bone disease, giardia, and diabetes. Our research is published to a facebook group that any new monkey owner can join to gain beneficial information on caring for your new baby. A portion of the proceeds from every monkey go towards purchasing new medical equipment to further these efforts, such as our Abaxis VS2 Blood analysis machine (used by high-end vet clinics for blood work), or Digital compound microscope.
I personally have two marmosets as companions that I have raised since babies. As I have raised many marmosets and keep two as companions, I am a valuable resource for any new monkey parent when it comes to behavioral issues, nutritional advice, medical knowledge, and general husbandry. I've helped a lot of monkey owners, most of whom I've never met or done business with - as I care first and foremost for the health of monkeys everywhere.
I have twins Geoffroy Marmosets born 3/19/2018 that will be ready to go to new homes on or around 4/19/2018. These babies are currently being raised by their mother until they reach 3 weeks old, at which point I will begin raising them and getting them used to being handled by humans, diapered, etc... Because I am a small breeder with only a handful of babies born each year, I am very tcelesive about who I sell a monkey to. I prefer at-home parents, or those who work from home, as these monkeys require a large time commitment and are very social animals that need a good human companion around to keep them company.
